Training & Support for Volunteers

The Home-Start Organisers support volunteers in their work with families offering training for the role and regular supervision.

Commitment required:

  • F%20DSC_9189_trustees_and_laptop_jpgInitial course of preparation in full is undertaken; this is FREE or can be at accredited level if interested in gaining 2 credits with the Open College network with a registration fee of £40. The initial course of preparation is normally one day a week for 10 weeks, 9.30am – 2.50pm. All volunteers need to be prepared to offer their support to a family.

  • Time with families each week – To ensure the we give the best support we ask volunteers to spend time with at least one family per week, the norm is for 2-3 hours but a little more maybe requires depending on the needs of the family.
  • Willingness to accept regular support and supervision in respect of their voluntary activity from the staff at Home-Start Herefordshire.
  • We recognise that volunteers may stop volunteering at any time due to their own circumstances changing,  but we would hope our volunteers would be able to offer their time to Home-Start for at least twelve months or more
