Training & Support for Volunteers
The Home-Start Organisers support volunteers in their work with families offering training for the role and regular supervision.
Commitment required:
- A Free Initial course of preparation is undertaken. The course is normally one day a week for 10 weeks, 9.30am – 2.30pm. All volunteers need to be prepared to offer their support to a family.
example of prep course The example shown here is subject to change - Time with families each week – To ensure the we give the best support we ask volunteers to spend time with at least one family per week, the norm is for 2-3 hours but a little more maybe requires depending on the needs of the family.
- Willingness to accept regular support and supervision in respect of their voluntary activity from the staff at Home-Start Herefordshire.
- We recognise that volunteers may stop volunteering at any time due to their own circumstances changing, but we would hope our volunteers would be able to offer their time to Home-Start for at least twelve months or more
